Earlier this year, a customer kept getting this error when rebooting:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!
Program: C\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Luckily the fix isn't too painful...

Go to a command prompt and run wbemtest
• Click Connect (upper-right)
• Replace root\default (or root\cimv2) with root\securitycenter and click Connect.
• You will be returned to the original screen, now click the Enum Classes... button, leave the Superclass Info box empty and click OK.
• In the Query Results screen, click AntivirusProduct and select Delete.
• Close the Query windows and Exit wbemtest.
• Now either repair or re-install Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition.
Does not work with me. I get: 'number 0x80041002'; 'facility: WMI'; 'Description: Not found' with as only option 'dismiss' (not 'More information')
ReplyDeleteRepaired Symantec but problem comes back
Any other solution?
This is just a guess, but perhaps the WMI Repository is corrupt. I'd make sure you have a good backup before trying this, just in case: http://msmvps.com/blogs/lduncan/pages/20217.aspx
ReplyDeleteI found solution of this problem on http://removalbits.com/. It's not hard and you don't always need re-installation. Read some guides about this issue, it's common problem with anti-viruses.
